What services does Optimal Recovery & Rehab provide?
We offer a range of rehabilitation and allied health services designed to support your recovery and long-term wellbeing. This includes physiotherapy, exercise-based rehabilitation and functional programmes to help with everyday activities. We also work closely with other health professionals and providers to ensure your care is coordinated and tailored to your needs.
Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
You can usually book directly with us without a referral as a private patient. However, a referral may be required if you are attending under a Medicare plan, DVA, workers’ compensation, motor vehicle accident scheme, or some insurance programmes. If you are unsure, our reception team can guide you through what is needed for your situation. If you have been recommended by one of our surgeons we do not need a referral.
How do I book, change, or cancel an appointment?
You can book an appointment by calling our clinic, or by emailing us with your preferred times. To reschedule or cancel, please contact us as soon as possible by phone or email. This allows us to offer the appointment time to another patient who may be waiting.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment will focus on understanding your health history, current concerns, and goals. Your clinician will ask questions, perform a physical assessment where appropriate, and explain their findings in clear, easy-to-understand language. Together, you will agree on a treatment plan and next steps, with plenty of time for you to ask questions.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring any relevant referrals, scans, test results, or medical reports you have, as well as a list of your current medications. If your appointment is funded through Medicare, NDIS, DVA, workers’ compensation, or private health insurance, bring your relevant cards and approval documents. Comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily is recommended for assessments and treatment.
How long does each session go for?
Initial consultations generally run for around 45–60 minutes, depending on your needs and the type of service. Follow-up sessions are usually 30–45 minutes. Some programmes, such as group or gym-based rehabilitation, may run for longer, and our team will let you know the expected duration when you book.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies for each person and depends on your condition, goals, and how you respond to treatment. After your initial assessment, your clinician will discuss a recommended plan, including how often you may benefit from attending. We regularly review your progress and adjust your programme so you are not attending more or less often than you need.
Do you accept private health, Medicare, NDIS, and other funding?
Yes, we work with a range of funding options, including private health insurance (extras cover), Medicare care plans issued by your GP, NDIS (self-managed and plan-managed), DVA, and some workers’ compensation and motor vehicle accident insurers. Coverage and rebates differ between plans and providers. Our admin team can help you understand your options and any out-of-pocket costs before you start.
What should I do if I am in pain or my symptoms get worse?
It is important to let us know if your pain increases or your symptoms change, especially after starting a new exercise or treatment programme. Contact the clinic to speak with your clinician, who can review your plan and make adjustments if needed. If you experience severe pain, sudden loss of function, difficulty breathing, chest pain, or any other concerning symptoms, please seek urgent medical attention or call emergency services (000) immediately.
How can I contact the clinic if I have questions?
You can contact Optimal Recovery & Rehab by phone, email, or via the contact form on our website. Our friendly reception team will do their best to answer your questions promptly or arrange for your clinician to follow up with you. If you reach us outside business hours, please leave a message, and we will respond as soon as we can on the next working day.
